5 winter drinks


Brrrr! Baby it's cold outside! Here are some great winter drinks to keep you happy by the fire.

1. NUTELLA HOT CHOCOLATE

  1. Put Nutella and 1/3 cup milk in small saucepan over medium heat. (you can add cocoa powder for added chocolate bonus)

  2. Whisk until blended.

  3. Add remaining milk, increase heat to medium-high, and whisk until hot and frothy. Drink!

2. SPIKED COCONUT VANILLA STEAMER (Courtesy of www.sugarandsoul.co)

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 oz. Spiced rum

  • 1½ whole milk

  • ½ cup canned coconut milk

  • 1½ tsp coconut extract

  • 1 vanilla bean

  • Toasted coconut for garnish

  • You will also need a frother.

  1. Add 1½ ounces of spiced rum to each of two mugs.

  2. Add milk, coconut milk, and coconut extract to a small pot.

  3. Slice vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape the paste out of the bean and add both paste and bean to the milk, bring to a simmer over medium heat and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

  4. Remove from heat and remove the vanilla bean.

  5. Use a frother to froth the milk for 1 minute, evenly pour milk mixture into the mugs, holding back the foam with a spoon and then spoofing it onto the top of the liquid.

  6. Garnish with toasted coconut and serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 gallon International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee

  • 2 cups whole milk

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 4 cups (1 qt) vanilla ice cream scoops

  • Whipped Cream

  • cocoa powder for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, stir together International Delight Mocha Iced Coffee, milk, vanilla, and sugar. Add in ice cream.

  2. Pour or ladle into servings glasses and top with whipped cream and cocoa powder.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 gallon quality apple cider

2 inches fresh ginger, sliced thin

3 apples, sliced thin

3 sticks cinnamon

Per drink:

6 oz. apple cider mix

1 1/2 - 2 ounces spiced rum

DIRECTIONS

1. Combine apple cider, sliced ginger, apple slices and cinnamon sticks in a slow-cooker on High for an hour. You can also heat the mixture on low in a pot until it’s steaming and then transfer it to a slow cooker to keep it warm.

For each drink, ladle some warm apple cider into a glass and top with 1 1/2 to 2 ounces spiced rum. Serve while warm!

5. HOT BUTTERED JAMIE (courtesy of www.bakingamoment.com)

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter

  • 1½ tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

  • 2 ounces Irish whiskey

  • 2 teabags

  • 2 cups hot water

  • whipped cream, for garnish

  • cinnamon sticks, for garnish

DIRECTIONS

Place the butter, brown sugar, and nutmeg in a small bowl and mix together with a fork.

Divide the mixture evenly between 2 mugs.Pour an ounce of whiskey into each of the 2 mugs.

Place a teabag in each mug and pour the hot water over. Allow to steep for 4 minutes.

Stir, and garnish with whipped cream and cinnamon sticks.
